Literary Roundup #2

This again-

This guy, like, has some interesting fuckin' like, stuff to say about "literature." It is like, insightful and shit. Say what you want about Harry Potter, it has done a huge amount of good for modern reading. I read the first few (4) books and then fell off the wagon. It wasn't for me, but that doesn't mean much. I read The Catcher in the Rye the summer before eight grade and haven't stopped reading since then. For so many other people Harry Potter has done the same thing; it's improved modern literacy like few other books in history has. I just wish its author had foregone all the media firestorming and figured out what 'literary cannon' meant earlier.

Fun fact: "George Orwell's 1984 came out a few years after Brave New World, and many people compared the two novels, and tried to predict which future would come true. Huxley argued that his imagined future was more likely. He said that it would be easier to control people by keeping them happy than it would be by threatening them with the violence that George Orwell suggested in 1984."  To that all I have to say is- John McCain, thank you for Sarah Palin, suggesting we repeal state gasoline taxes, and "drill baby drill."

On that note, George Bush Jr. may hate black people, but Sarah Palin hates books.

Sad stuff but I think you'd agree this is quintessentially BSD.
